Women are taking over the business world, she declares. We don't need to change who we are to do that we can add our own style to the way we do things and MGBS will always bring that feminine touch to its offerings. This is where authenticity is becoming an integral part of the leadership of the future leaders are leading out of who they are, not out of a rule book. As a woman I lead with two vital organs my heart and my head which is a mad combination when you need to show direction, comments Myrna wryly. But I know that if I stand in front of a crowd and 'howl at the moon' people believe I am strong and wise enough to lead the pack. There is no set formula for leadership any more and in business our success is calculated by the extent to which we've mastered the environment and delivered results. Myrna believes that authentic leaders are being born every day not as babies but as men and women whose strength has been developed as they have faced their daily challenges, especially in the workplace. The leaders are those who step up to the plate and 'howl like wolves'! she says. An environment that encourages everyone to speak freely and explore their own ideas fosters growth of leadership. I promote and develop leaders by setting an example and delivering with passion determination and drive is catchy and with the right mentorship leads to success. A combination of the right focus and being positive leads to the business doing well and making a difference. Welcoming the value that others bring and allowing them to develop that value is also an important ingredient in the success of MGBS and Myrna has a strong team around her. |

I know that Myrna respects what I bring to the company, notes Odette Nicholson, New Business Development Manager. It is important for a company's growth that the leader allows strong women to contribute and is not threatened by them. We are looking for strong women unless we invest in them we will fail. This passion for developing people makes Odette well suited to also head up the HR and Training aspects of the business. Her core skills lie in her facilitation and selection expertise. However, she has a diverse portfolio ranging from accounting to sales and has fulfilled several leadership roles. |
